Can the re-cache continue where it left? 22 Feb 2016 23:23 #1625

Hi :-)

Our re-cache function (crawler extended) runs for about 2 minuts and stops. I can set the timeout higher but it will just hit that level too.

Can JotCache be improve to is just stops before the limit and it continues where it left when it run again?

The premature stop of crawler started from browser is finally not limitation of any Joomla extension but the web server settings. Ask the hosting company how to arrange longer time for running PHP processes.

We use have own dedicated servers for our clients and we have set the timeouts high already BUT this means that defect / looping scripts can run a very long time also. And it is not a good solution because it can slow down the server (if there are more defect script running).

Why can't the crawler run for fx. 5 minutes (stops before the timeout limit is hit) and a cron can call it up fx. an hour later and it will continue where it left? In this way all pages will be crawled over a day. This would be a great solution :-)

Right now we have many client sites that only get the first pages crawled - leaving the rest of the pages for the browser to cache. The first pages are re-clawled every hour but the rest of the does not.

Keep up the good work :-) And thank you creating the best cache extension for Joomla :-)
