GZIP and Jotcache 25 May 2015 00:46 #1371

Hello,

Using JotCache 5.1 with gzip enabled on a Joomla 3.4.1 site. It seems that the first pageload of the site loads with gzip enabled (according the response header: Content-Encoding:gzip). But on all subsequent pageloads, presumable handled by JotCache, there is no longer and Gzip. If I recall there used to be a setting to compress/gzip the cached output. Is this no longer present?

Your finding cannot be confirmed. On our test servers is Joomla 3.4.1 with JotCache 5.1 working well with Gzip global setting set to Yes. JotCache 5 is not more using separate setting for page output compress.

Please check influence of other system plugins on server behavior.

Hi,

This seems to be an issue with my particular Rockettheme template (attached). I cant replicate the issue with Protostar.

Hi,

I can add some more clarification here.

I had some module positions excluded from caching in the Jotcache admin. When removing all exclusions, the gzip is maintained throughout page reloads. So it seems to be an issue (on my end) with excluded positions.

Finally,

I added back one of my module positions and gzip is maintained. So for me, removing and then re-adding one module exclusions in Jotcache admin seems to have helped. Weird :)

It can be an influence of previous cached modules in Joomla global cache.

Well this is interesting...

If I add back any module position with "header" in the name, the gzip fails on subsequent page reloads. Any other module position excluded works fine. But if I exclude:

header-a
header-b
etc

then it fails. Any ideas here?
